💡 Note: Product Code cannot be changed after creation to maintain data integrity.
4.2 Deleting a Product

4.3 Searching Products
Use the search box to find products by:
- Product Code
- Product Name
- Category
Type in the search box and results filter automatically.
5. Best Practices
5.1 Product Codes
- Use a consistent naming convention
- Include category prefix (e.g., FURN-CHAIR-001)
- Use sequential numbers for versions
- Keep codes short but meaningful
Good Examples:
• PROD-CHAIR-001, PROD-CHAIR-002
• FURN-DESK-OFFICE-001
• ELEC-LAMP-LED-100
5.2 Product Organization
- Use categories to group similar products
- Set realistic production times
- Keep descriptions detailed but concise
- Update status when discontinuing products
5.3 Unit of Measure (UOM)
| UOM |

| PCS (Pieces) |
Individual items (chairs, laptops, phones) |
| KG (Kilograms) |
Weight-based products (chemicals, metals) |
| LTR (Liters) |
Liquids (paints, oils, beverages) |
| MTR (Meters) |
Length-based (cables, fabric, tubing) |
| BOX |
Packaged sets |
| SET |
Multi-item products (tool sets, furniture sets) |
6. Integration with BOMs
Products and Bills of Materials work together:
- Each product can have one or more BOMs
- BOMs define what materials are needed to make the product
- Products must exist before creating BOMs
- Active products appear in BOM product selection
Workflow:
- Create Product (Products module)
- Create BOM for Product (BOM module)
- Add materials to BOM (Materials module)
- Create Production Order (Production Orders module)
7. Troubleshooting
Issue: Cannot create product - "Product code already exists"
Solution: Each product code must be unique. Choose a different code or check if the product already exists.
Issue: Product doesn't appear in BOM dropdown
Solution:
- Check product status is "Active"
- Refresh the BOM page
- Verify product was saved successfully
Issue: Cannot delete product
Solution:
- Product may be referenced in BOMs or orders
- Use "Inactive" status instead of deleting
- Contact system administrator if deletion is critical
8. FAQs
Q: Can I change a product code after creation?
A: No, product codes are permanent to maintain data integrity. Create a new product if you need a different code.
Q: How many products can I create?
A: Unlimited. The system can handle thousands of products.
Q: What's the difference between inactive and deleted?
A: "Delete" marks as inactive (soft delete). "Inactive" status means the product won't appear in active lists but historical data is preserved.
Q: Can multiple products use the same BOM?
A: No, each product needs its own BOM. However, BOMs can have similar materials.
Q: Should I set production time?
A: Yes! Production time helps with:
- Capacity planning
- Scheduling production orders
- Cost estimation
- Resource allocation
